Apprenticeship enabled degree courses

Along with the degree based on apprenticeship enabled degree courses in Shri Ram College, now the benefit of apprenticeship will also be given by the Government of India.

On 29.07.2025, on the fifth anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP-2020), the All India Education Conference 2025 program was organized at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The chief guest of which was Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Cabinet Education Minister, Government of India, special guest Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Technical and Skill Development, Government of India and Education Ministers of many states were present. On this occasion, an agreement was signed between Shri Ram College and the Board of Apprenticeship Training, Government of India under the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme of the Government of India. In this agreement, the contract was signed by Chairman, Dr. S.C. Kulshrestha on behalf of Shri Ram College and Director, Shri Vineet Kumar on behalf of the Board of Apprenticeship Training.

Under this historic agreement, in the final year of apprenticeship enabled degree courses being run in Shri Ram College, students will not attend classes but will work as apprentices in industrial establishments, banks, corporate houses and half of the stipend will be provided to them by the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme run by the Ministry of Education, Government of India and the remaining amount will be compulsorily given by the institute where they will be working. The amount of stipend will be transferred directly to the bank account of the students, and after completing the apprenticeship, they will also be given a certificate of apprenticeship by the Board of Apprenticeship Training. For this, students will have to register on the CGST 2.0 portal. Which will be linked to the college website as a “single point of contact”.

The Board of Apprenticeship Training will provide assistance to students in registration, guidance and problem solving in apprenticeship enabled degree courses. Shri Ram College will also have the responsibility to guide other colleges and attract students towards Apprenticeship Enabled Degree Programme courses there. Currently, under the Apprenticeship Enabled Degree Programme, courses like B.Com (Banking, Financial Services and Insurance) and BS-C (Tourism and Hospitality Management) are being run at Shri Ram College, Muzaffarnagar.

Shri Ram College and Board of Apprenticeship Training are working together on a plan to connect students with new technical skills like AI (Artificial Intelligence), ML (Machine Learning), IoT (Internet of Things), Blockchain, so that students can face the challenges of the future with confidence.

On this occasion, Dr. S.C., Chairman, Governing Body of Shri Ram College was present. Kulshreshtha said, “This agreement is not just a formal document, but the foundation of the bright future of the students of Shri Ram College. The apprenticeship program will not only strengthen the students academically, but will also lead them towards industrial practicality and self-reliance. The stipend provided by the National Apprenticeship Training of the Government of India will also make them financially strong. This step is a meaningful effort to bridge the gap between education and employment.”

Dr. Prerna Mittal, Principal of Shri Ram College, said that this initiative is a strong effort towards “connecting education with experience”, which will enable students to prepare for better placement and career.
