Future Prospects
A career in Biotechnology offers a wide variety of work assignments. These may include basic research, process development, production, technical services, quality control, compliance control or technical sales. Students can also opt for careers as genetic engineers, bioprocess engineers, forensic analysts, molecular biologists, lab technicians, lab assistants and instrumentation technicians.
About the course
Faculty of Bioscience was established in year 2005 with B.Sc. Biotechnology. In the year 2006, B.Sc. Microbiology was started. In year 2009 M.Sc. Biotechnology and in 2011 M.Sc. Microbiology courses were introduced. Presently Department has 14 well qualified and devoted Faculty Members. The Department has four well equipped laboratories for Biotechnology, Microbiology, Botany/Zoology and Bioinformatics with latest instruments like Gel Electrophoresis unit, UV- Spectrophotometer, Ultra Cooling Centrifuge, PCR, BOD & COD Incubators, Laminar Flow, Deep Freezers etc. Department also has wi-fi connected bioinformatics lab comprising of 30 computers with various softwares and platforms for High end data analysis. The Department has produced university gold medalist and toppers from time to time. For up-gradation of students and faculties, every year we organize educational tours, seminars, guest lectures, workshops and faculty development programs (FDPs). Our research oriented faculty members have published more than 50 research papers in Journals of National and International repute. We also provide facilities to the internal and external students for doing projects and training in the field of Bioinformatics, Biotechnology and Microbiology. Our distinguished alumni are placed in companies like Fresenius kabi, Alkem pharmaceuticals, Akums pharma, Mettler toredo, Ranbaxy pharma, Roche diagnostics, Panacea Biotech, Madhusudan dairy and so on. Our trained students are pursuing their higher education in research institutes like AIIMS, Sir Ganga Ram hospital, Jamia milia, AMU, IARI etc. The Faculty of Biosciences is devoted to impart applied knowledge of science, especially in the field of biotechnology, microbiology.
