About the Department

Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.- Baccalaureus Scientiae in Latin) is an undergraduate degree course usually of three years duration. It is one of the most popular course choices among Science students after Intermediate. The full form of B.Sc. is Bachelor of Science. The course is considered as a foundation course for students who want to make their career in the field of Science. It is offered in a variety of Science subjects at a majority of universities in India & other countries.

A B.Sc. course can be pursued as both a full-time or part-time course. Students can choose to pursue a General B.Sc. or B.Sc. (Honours). The course is most apt for students who have a strong interest and background in Science. The course is also beneficial for students who wish to pursue multi and inter-disciplinary science careers in future.

A B.Sc. programme can be further classified into two categories – B.Sc. Honours and B.Sc. General or Pass. The former focuses on one major subject area. The curriculum is designed to keep more focus on the Honours subject, and also includes subjects or papers from the elective subjects student On the other hand, the B.Sc. General programme provides basic knowledge of the major Science subjects to the students. The curriculum is slightly lesser rigorous, but it includes both the theoretical and practical components.

Advantages of Course

B.SC. course helps the candidate to acquire theoretical and application information on various areas related to Science . The course acts as a basis for higher study options, such as master and doctorate level programs in various phases of Science . This helps the candidate to build up a challenging career in each sector with lucrative packages. The same allow opportunity to travel and make contact with a lot of admired & genius personalities.

Objectives of Course

The learning objective for BSC course is to provide a broad framework within which the B.Sc.course helps to create an academic base that responds to the needof the student to understand the basics of science and its ever-evolving nature of applications in explaining all the observed natural phenomena as well as artificial phenomena predicting the future applications of new phenomena with a global perspective The learning outcome in B.Sc. also allows for the flexibility and innovation in the program design of the undergraduate education and its silver development teaching learning process and assessment procedure for learning outcomes.
